Left Side Spasms- Could this be IBS or something more serious?

Recently (within the last year) I have had random left side spasms and pain in what feels to be my intestines. When I need to have a bowel movement the left side of my stomach has very painful spasms that stop me from breathing. I have also a burning sensation in my stomach. Recently I had an overwhelming stomach pain that felt like my intestines were going to explode. I couldn't breathe. Any idea what this could be?
